Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)

Full Paediatric First Aid Qualification | Two-Day Course

Develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to respond safely and effectively to a wide range of illnesses, injuries and medical emergencies involving infants and children.

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a regulated, full paediatric first aid qualification delivered over two days. It has been specifically designed to meet the paediatric first aid criteria set out within the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.

The course is suitable for early years professionals, registered childminders and others who are responsible for the care and safety of infants and children.

Meeting Early Years Foundation Stage Requirements

The Early Years Foundation Stage framework requires early years providers in England to ensure that at least one person with a current and full paediatric first aid certificate is available on the premises whenever children are present.

Providers should consider:

• The number of children in their care

• The number of staff on duty

• The size and layout of the premises

• Staff working patterns

• Outings and off-site activities

• How quickly a qualified paediatric first aider can respond

Organisations may therefore need more than one trained paediatric first aider to maintain appropriate cover throughout the working day.

Who Is This Course For?

The qualification is particularly suitable for:

• Nursery and preschool practitioners

• Early years educators

• Registered childminders

• Childminding assistants

• Teaching assistants

• School support staff

• Nannies and au pairs

• Children’s activity leaders

• Sports and leisure staff working with children

• Parents, grandparents and carers

• Anyone responsible for the welfare of infants or children

It is also suitable for individuals who have completed a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification and wish to meet relevant Early Years Foundation Stage requirements.

Newly qualified entrants to an early years setting may be required to obtain an appropriate paediatric first aid qualification within the applicable timeframe after starting work.
