Under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, every employer must make adequate first aid provision based on a needs assessment of their workplace. The right course depends on your sector, the number of people on site and the hazards involved. As a starting point:
01
Low-risk workplace? Start with EFAW
Offices, retail units and similar environments often only need Emergency First Aid at Work — one day of training that prepares staff to deal with life-threatening emergencies until help arrives.
02
Higher-risk site or larger team? Choose FAW
Warehouses, construction, manufacturing, kitchens and larger workforces usually need First Aid at Work, which covers a much wider range of injuries and illnesses over three days.
03
Working with babies or children? Take Paediatric First Aid
Our Qualsafe Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course is designed to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) paediatric first aid requirements. Take it over two days face to face, or as blended learning with one classroom day.
04
Need CPR and defibrillator skills only? Book BLS
Basic Life Support & AED suits care and healthcare staff who need to keep resuscitation skills current, and organisations that have installed a defibrillator on site.
