Doctors who have completed the ATLS Instructor course and need to teach a Provider course within 12 months to complete their instructor status.

Experienced ATLS instructors who direct, or are working towards directing, RCS England ATLS courses.
Becoming and staying an ATLS instructor
The Royal College of Surgeons of England sets the rules for ATLS faculty (RCS England: information for ATLS instructors):
- Only Provider course candidates nominated as having instructor potential can apply for the ATLS Instructor course.
- After the Instructor course, you must teach an ATLS Provider course within 12 months, where faculty assess your teaching.
- Instructor status lasts four years. You must teach at least four ATLS courses in each four-year period and leave no more than two years between courses.
- Course directors must have taught on at least seven Provider courses and one current-edition Instructor course.
