Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the PLAB 2 / UKMLA CPSA exam?
PLAB 2 (now renamed UKMLA CPSA) is a 16-station Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) set by the GMC. It assesses clinical skills, communication, data gathering and professional behaviour. Passing this exam is required for most international medical graduates to obtain GMC registration to practise in the UK.
Do I need to complete PLAB 1 before attending this course?
Yes. You should have passed PLAB 1 (UKMLA AKT) before applying for PLAB 2. However, you can attend this course while awaiting your PLAB 1 results if your exam is imminent, as the preparation process benefits from early structured practice.
I failed PLAB 2 previously. Is this course suitable for me?
Absolutely. A significant number of our candidates attend after an unsuccessful attempt. The Supervised Practice Sessions are specifically designed to identify and correct the subtle communication, tone and structure errors that commonly cause exam failure. You will receive targeted, honest feedback.
Where is the course held and do you offer accommodation advice?
The course is held at PLAB Guide Academy, 308 Moseley Road, Levenshulme, Manchester M19 2LH. Manchester is well connected by road and rail. We can advise on nearby accommodation options โ please contact us after booking for local recommendations.
How many candidates are in each cohort?
We deliberately keep cohort sizes small to ensure every candidate receives personalised feedback during Supervised Practice Sessions. This is essential to the quality of our teaching. Places are strictly limited โ we recommend booking as early as possible.
What makes PLAB Guide Academy different from other PLAB 2 courses?
Our course is led directly by Dr Rashad Raza โ a practising NHS senior doctor โ not tutors reading from a script. Every element, from the teaching sessions to the mock exams, is designed around the real NHS consultation model that GMC examiners are trained to assess. We combine intensive teaching, hands-on simulation, and the kind of honest, structured feedback that produces lasting change.
