High-fidelity SimMan scenarios covering acute and emergency presentations. Structured approach to real-time decision-making and communication under pressure.

Clinical Examination Skills
Cardiovascular, respiratory, abdominal, neurological, and cranial nerve examinations. OSCE-style practice with individualised feedback and correction of technique.

Procedural Skills
Venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, and suturing. Practice on digital and non-digital models โ eye, ear, rectal, abdominal, and speculum. Full emphasis on safety, consent, and explanation.

SimMan & Manikins Crash Course
Combined revision using SimMan and procedural manikins. Reinforcement of key skills and exam-relevant scenarios to consolidate the first three days.

Prescribing & Teaching Stations
Safe prescribing using BNF principles with commonly tested prescription scenarios. Teaching and explanation stations with examiner-focused communication skills.

Carousel Mock OSCE FINAL DAY
16-station supervised mock examination covering communication, ethics, prescribing, clinical examinations, and SimMan. Structured examiner feedback on each station.
Two Additional Full Mock Examinations Included
Two further full 16-station OSCE mocks are included with the Smart Course. These can be booked flexibly during or after the course and are designed to simulate real PLAB 2 exam conditions.

Do I need any prior preparation before attending the Smart Course?
The Smart Course is designed for candidates who already have a foundational understanding of the PLAB 2 format. It is an intensive revision and consolidation programme โ not a beginner's introduction to PLAB 2.
When can I book the two additional full mock OSCEs?
The two full 16-station mocks can be booked flexibly โ either during the Smart Course week or at any point afterwards in the lead-up to your exam. Contact the academy to schedule them at a time that suits you.
What does "academy access until exam" mean exactly?
After completing the Smart Course, you can return to the academy for self-directed practice and peer revision until your next booked PLAB 2 attempt. This includes access to SimMan, all clinical manikins, and procedural models. This is valid for one exam attempt only and is non-transferable.
How many candidates are in each Smart Course group?
Groups are deliberately kept small to ensure each candidate receives individualised feedback. This is not a lecture-style course โ it is hands-on training where your specific technique and communication are observed and corrected.
Is the course suitable for candidates who have previously failed PLAB 2?
Yes. The Smart Course is well-suited to retake candidates. The structured format, mock experience, and direct examiner feedback are particularly valuable for identifying and correcting the areas that caused difficulty in a previous attempt.
