PLAB 2 Candidates Discussion Forum

A professional, supportive space for peer learning — aligned with GMC Good Medical Practice (GMP).

Welcome

This forum is hosted by PLAB Guide Academy to help candidates discuss preparation strategies, practise clinical reasoning, communication, ethics, and NHS-based approaches — while maintaining professionalism in line with GMC Good Medical Practice.

Purpose

  • Exchange high-yield study tips and resources for PLAB 2.
  • Discuss clinical reasoning, data-gathering, management frameworks, and IPS.
  • Clarify doubts respectfully and support peers’ wellbeing and confidence.
  • Reflect NHS practice, ethics, and patient-centred communication.

🚫 Strictly Prohibited (Read Before Posting)

  • Do not request, share, or hint at “inside” exam content (e.g., recalled stations, examiner behaviour, or confidential material).
  • No patient-identifiable information or scenarios that risk breaching confidentiality.
  • No defamation, discrimination, harassment, or promotion/advertising without academy permission.

Forum Rules & Professional Conduct

1) Uphold GMC Good Medical Practice
Maintain professionalism, respect, honesty, and integrity in all posts. Communicate courteously and assume good intent.
2) Confidentiality
Do not disclose patient-identifiable details or share clinical stories that could identify a real person or institution.
3) No “Inside Stories” or Recalled Stations
Do not request, share, or imply access to actual exam content, examiner behaviour, or any confidential material related to PLAB 2.
4) Keep it Educational & Constructive
Focus discussions on clinical frameworks, communication strategies, ethics, NHS pathways, and safe practice. Avoid gossip, hearsay, or rumours.
5) Respect & Inclusivity
No discrimination or stereotyping. Be mindful of diverse backgrounds and communication styles. Challenge ideas, not people.
6) No Advertising or Unauthorised Links
Avoid promotional posts and external course links unless explicitly approved by PLAB Guide Academy.
7) Seek Help Professionally
For pastoral, academic, or administrative support, contact the academy team (details below). Avoid sharing private grievances publicly.

Posting Etiquette

  • Use clear titles (e.g., “Breaking Bad News – SPIKES framework”).
  • Share frameworks, not “answers” (e.g., ABCDE, Calgary–Cambridge, SBAR, SAFER discharge).
  • Cite trusted sources (e.g., NHS pages, NICE guidelines) rather than blogs or social media.
  • Report unsafe content to moderators using Moodle’s “Report” option.
Moderator note: Posts that breach these rules may be edited or removed. Repeated violations can lead to restricted access to preserve a safe learning environment.
