PLAB 2 SMART COURSE – Intensive Preparation Program

Overview

The PLAB 2 Smart Course is a focused, high-yield one-week intensive programme designed for candidates who want maximum practical exposure and exam-oriented preparation in a short time. It is ideal for doctors who already have basic preparation and want structured revision, hands-on practice, and realistic mock experience before their exam.

Course Duration & Location

  • Duration: 6 days (Monday to Saturday)
  • Venue: PLAB Guide Academy

  • Format: Face-to-face, hands-on, small-group training

Course Fee

  • £450 (flat fee)
  • Includes all teaching sessions, practical training, mocks, and academy access as outlined below.

What the Course Covers

Day 1 – SimMan Training

  • High-fidelity SimMan scenarios
  • Structured approach to acute and emergency presentations
  • Real-time decision-making and communication under pressure

Day 2 – Clinical Examination Skills

  • Cardiovascular, respiratory, abdominal, neurological, and cranial nerve examinations
  • OSCE-style examination practice
  • Individualised feedback and correction of technique
  • Day 3 – Procedural Skills
  • Venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation, suturing
  • Practice on digital and non-digital models (eye, ear, rectal, abdominal, speculum)
  • Emphasis on safety, consent, and explanation

Day 4 – SimMan & Manikins Crash Course

  • Combined revision using SimMan and procedural manikins
  • Reinforcement of key skills and exam-relevant scenarios

Day 5 – Prescribing & Teaching Stations

  • Safe prescribing using BNF principles
  • Commonly tested prescription scenarios
  • Teaching and explanation stations with examiner-focused communication

Day 6 – Carousel Mock OSCE

  • 16-station supervised mock examination
  • Stations covering communication, ethics, prescribing, examinations, and SimMan
  • Structured examiner feedback

Full Mock Examinations

  • Two additional full 16-station OSCE mocks included
  • Can be booked flexibly during or after the Smart Course
  • Designed to simulate real PLAB 2 exam conditions

Academy Access Until Exam (One Attempt Only)

  • Return access to the academy for practice and revision until your next booked PLAB 2 attempt
  • Use of SimMan, manikins, and clinical models
  • Ongoing guidance and peer practice
  • Non-transferable, one exam attempt only
