EXAMINATIONS OF THE CENTRALLY LYING ORGAN SYSTEMS

Thyroid, respiratory, cardiac and abdominal examinations (CENTRALLY LYING ORGANS / SYSTEMS)

Thyroid, respiratory, cardiac and abdominal examinations are the major systems or organs lying the in the midline and they share a common scheme for assessment which is as follows

    1. Inspection
    2. Palpation
    3. Percussion
    4. Auscultation
    5. Special Tests

VARIATION NOTE: The order of the above steps should remain unchanged except for abdominal examination where Auscultation is performed immediately after the Inspection hence the order would be Inspection —> Auscultation —> Palpation —> Percussion and Special Tests
