OET (OCCUPATIONAL ENGLISH TEST) is the first step towards obtaining GMC registration in the UK. Most if not all overseas doctors (depending upon their country of origin) are required to prove their ability to be able to read, write, listen and speak English.

The doctors are required to present a valid OET Certificate which must show that:

  • you took the medicine version of the test
  • you got at least a grade ‘B’ in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
  • you got those grades in the same test
  • your candidate number
  • you obtained the grades in your most recent sitting of the test.

Since the introduction of OET we see most of the doctors are inclined towards this contrary to IELTS. It is valid for two years.

At PLAB GUIDE we aim to help overseas doctors by providing them the appropriate guidance they need to prepare for their English Language test.
